Monday the 14th of February saw the conclusion of the VSN Sport Cup. Congratulations to Team Bain with David Bain and Alison Hopkins who beat Team Doyle with John Doyle, Alan Hopkins and Michael Breen to win the gold medal. A big well done to Team Donaldson with Ian Donaldson, Martin Jamieson and Russell Shanks who beat Team Sellar with Jim Sellar, Gill Keith and David Telfer to win the bronze medal. On the 7th of February our league competition came to a close well done to runners up John Doyle, Jim Sellar, Janice Wheeler and Martin Elliot. A big congratulations to the winners Ian Donaldson, Angela Higson, Michael Breen and Stewart Brown on winning the competition
Our last session of the year was our Christmas Fun Day Bonspiel where members wore there christmas jumpers and hats. Congratulations to the team of Gill Keith, Angela Higson, Alison Hopkins and Janice Wheeler on winning the Bonspiel in what was a fun day for everyone. The curling was followed by a fantastic christmas lunch and a raffle.
Our first competition of the season was The Bells Triples. The competitition took place over 5 weeks with six teams competing for the top prize. Team Sellar with Jim Sellar, Angela Higson and Martin Elliot made it to the final alongside Team Masterton with Bill Masterton, Alison Hopkins and Janice Wheeler. Congratulations to Team Masterton on winning the competition.
After three days of highly competitive curling our 11th annual Tunnocks Bonspiel came to a flose. Congratulations to our own South Lanarkshire team of skip David Bain, Alison Hopkins (third), Steve Law (second) and Martin Jamieson (lead) on finishing in third place. A big congratulations to our friends from Switzerland who finished runners up and a very well done to Team Lothian who took the top prize with some fantastic performance's what a way to end the season we hope to see everyone again next year. ![]()
After three days of highly competitive curling the 2019 SWCA British Open has come to an end. Team Germany finished in third place and took the bronze medal. Well done to Team England who finished runners up and claimed the silver medal. A big congratulations to team Ewan with skip Gregor Ewan and our own Ian Donaldson(third), Gill Keith(second) and Jim Sellar(lead) on einning the competition and claiming the top prize.
Once again our season began with the Bells Triples. The Competition was played over 5 weeks with 8 teams competing for the top prize. Team Bain with David Bain, Stuart Brown and Robert Currie were third placed finishers. Team Sellar with Jim Sellar, Rosemary Lenton and Martin Jamieson made it to the final alongside Team Donaldson with Ian Donaldson, Stevie Law and Eilidh Gibb. Team Sellar were the victors. The games were followed by a presentation lunch upstairs. Representatives of Bells Food Group presented the players with their prizes. We would like to thank Bells Food Group for their continued support of our club.
On Sunday the 13th of January we took part in the Cambusnethan Cup at Hamilton ice rink. We didn't get off to to the best of starts losing 11-0 and 4-0 in our first two games although we didn't play badly we were overpowered by our opponents fantastic sweeping skills. We regrouped for our final game of the day and were 5-4 winners to avoid finishing last. In all it was a great day of curling and we thouroughly enjoyed it.
On Friday the 11th of January we took part in our annual competition against Cadzow Curling Club. We played two teams from Cadzow coming out on top by winning 7-2 and drawing 7-7 despite having been 7-1 behind on what was a great night of curling.The games were followed by a presentation and a few drinks. We look forward to having the chance to retain the trophy when we meet again next year.
